Leadership and Goal

The Supportive Housing Workgroup is chaired by Marie Kovecsi and has a goal of expanding supportive housing options.  In December of 2021, Winona County was awarded a grant from Minnesota Housing Partnership to participate in a Housing Institute. An additional goal that was added through the Institute was to develop a Local Housing Trust Fund.  In December of 2022, the workgroup was renamed to Hope for Homes Coalition. The Coalition applied for and received two grants to start a flexible housing fund to support the scattered sites program, which is being managed and operated by Hiawatha Valley Mental Health Center and will be launched in 2024.

Flexible Funding from Hope from Homes

The Flexible Fund from Hope for Homes is a last resort funding opportunity to keep people in their homes. Allowable expenses may be things like rental assistance, damage mitigation. and housing rehabilitation. This funding is made possible through a grant from the Minnesota Housing Partnership.

The Flexible Fund application period has now closed. If you have already applied, you will hear from our Housing Specialist soon.

We hope to bring additional emergency housing fund opportunities soon. Please stay tuned!
